Adventure Bible Family Devotions

Duration: 365 days

Riding the Wind

Chris stepped into his dad’s home lab, carrying a hair dryer. His mom was following him. “I got it!” Chris said. His father, a science teacher, turned from the workbench. “Good. Bring it here.”

Grabbing Chris’s shoulder, his mother said, “Wait! What are you planning to do with my hair dryer?”

Chris’s dad chuckled. “Don’t worry. We’re just trying a little experiment I want to show my students. We won’t hurt it.” He nodded at Chris. “Okay, plug in the hair dryer, turn it on, and point it at the ceiling.” Chris obeyed, and his dad held a Ping-Pong ball over the hair dryer. “Now I’ll demonstrate Bernoulli’s principle.” He let go of the ball. It shot upward, and then hovered in midair. “See?” he said. “The fast-moving air creates a low-pressure ‘tunnel.’ And the higher pressure around the ball keeps it in there. The ball is perfectly suspended!”

Pilots rely on Bernoulli’s principle to keep their airplanes flying. Air moves faster over the top of a plane’s wings, and the higher pressure underneath lifts the aircraft. As you fly along in life, you can rely on God to hold you up. No matter what you fly through, you never have to worry about falling. God will support you!

Bible verse: [God is] like an eagle that stirs up its nest and hovers over its young, that spreads its wings to catch them and carries them aloft. – Deuteronomy 32:11
