The Lord Appears to Solomon

3 Solomon made an alliance^[a] with Pharaoh king of Egypt by marrying Pharaoh’s daughter.^(A) Solomon brought her to the city of David^(B) until he finished building his palace,^(C) the Lord’s temple,^(D) and the wall surrounding Jerusalem.^(E)

¹⁸ He walked in the ways of the kings of Israel, as the house of Ahab had done, for Ahab’s daughter was his wife. He did what was evil in the Lord’s sight.^(A)

¹⁴ should we break your commands again and intermarry with the peoples who commit these detestable practices?^(A) Wouldn’t you become so angry with us that you would destroy us, leaving neither remnant nor survivor?^(B)
