³⁵ ‘ “Then I will raise up a faithful priest^(A) for myself. He will do whatever is in my heart and mind. I will establish a lasting dynasty for him,^(B) and he will walk before my anointed one for all time.^(C)

¹⁴ Ahimelech replied to the king, ‘Who among all your servants is as faithful as David?^(A) He is the king’s son-in-law, captain of your bodyguard, and honoured in your house.

¹¹ ever since the day I ordered judges to be over my people Israel.^(A) I will give you rest from all your enemies.

‘ “The Lord declares to you: The Lord himself will make a house for you.

¹⁶ Your house and kingdom will endure before me^[a] for ever,^(A) and your throne will be established for ever.” ’^(B)
