¹⁴ The cart came to the field of Joshua of Beth-shemesh and stopped there near a large rock. The people of the city chopped up the cart and offered the cows as a burnt offering to the Lord.^(A)

²¹ So he turned back from following him, took the team of oxen, and slaughtered^[a] them. With the oxen’s wooden yoke and plough,^(A) he cooked the meat and gave it to the people, and they ate. Then he left, followed Elijah, and served him.^(B)
