1 Thessalonians 2:5-9
New International Version
5 You know we never used flattery, nor did we put on a mask to cover up greed(A)—God is our witness.(B) 6 We were not looking for praise from people,(C) not from you or anyone else, even though as apostles(D) of Christ we could have asserted our authority.(E) 7 Instead, we were like young children[a] among you.
Just as a nursing mother cares for her children,(F) 8 so we cared for you. Because we loved you so much, we were delighted to share with you not only the gospel of God(G) but our lives as well.(H) 9 Surely you remember, brothers and sisters, our toil and hardship; we worked(I) night and day in order not to be a burden to anyone(J) while we preached the gospel of God to you.

1 Thessalonians 2:5-9
English Standard Version
5 (A)For we never came with words of flattery,[a] as you know, nor with a pretext for greed—(B)God is witness. 6 (C)Nor did we seek glory from people, whether from you or from others, (D)though we could have made (E)demands as (F)apostles of Christ. 7 But we were (G)gentle[b] among you, (H)like a nursing mother taking care of her own children. 8 So, being affectionately desirous of you, we were ready to share with you not only the gospel of God (I)but also our own selves, because you had become very dear to us.
9 For you remember, brothers, (J)our labor and toil: we (K)worked night and day, that we might not be a burden to any of you, while we proclaimed to you the gospel of God.
