² Ahaziah^(A) had fallen through the latticed window of his upstairs room in Samaria^(B) and was injured. So he sent messengers, instructing them, ‘Go and enquire of Baal-zebub,^[a](C) the god of Ekron,^(D) whether I will recover from this injury.’^(E)

²⁴ When the Pharisees heard this, they said, ‘This man drives out demons only by Beelzebul, the ruler of the demons.’^(A)

²⁷ And if I drive out demons by Beelzebul, by whom do your sons drive them out? For this reason they will be your judges.^(A)

²² The scribes^(A) who had come down from Jerusalem said, ‘He is possessed by Beelzebul,’^(B) and, ‘He drives out^(C) demons^(D) by the ruler^(E) of the demons.’^(F)

¹⁵ But some of them said, ‘He drives out demons by Beelzebul,^(A) the ruler^(B) of the demons.’^(C)

¹⁸ If Satan^(A) also is divided against himself, how will his kingdom^(B) stand? For you say I drive out demons by Beelzebul. ¹⁹ And if I drive out demons by Beelzebul, by whom do your sons^(C) drive them out? For this reason they will be your judges.
