¹⁸ “Some of your descendants – who come from you, whom you father – will be taken away,^(A) and they will become eunuchs^[a] in the palace of the king of Babylon.” ’^(B)

²¹ During those days while Mordecai was sitting at the King’s Gate, Bigthan and Teresh, two of the king’s eunuchs^(A) who guarded the entrance, became infuriated and planned to assassinate^[a] King Ahasuerus.

¹⁴ While they were still speaking with him, the king’s eunuchs^(A) arrived and rushed Haman to the banquet Esther had prepared.^(B)

¹² For there are eunuchs who were born that way from their mother’s womb, there are eunuchs who were made by men, and there are eunuchs who have made themselves that way because of the kingdom of heaven. The one who is able to accept it should accept it.’
