¹⁰ Warning about Prosperity. When you have eaten your fill and are satisfied, then praise the Lord, your God, for the good land that he has given you. ¹¹ Take heed not to forget the Lord, your God, by not observing his commandments, decrees, and statutes that I have given you today. ¹² Otherwise, when you have eaten your fill and you have built fine houses and are living in them ¹³ and your herds and your flocks have grown large, and your silver and your gold have multiplied, in fact all that you own has multiplied, ¹⁴ then your heart might become proud and you will forget the Lord, your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, the land of your slavery. ¹⁵ He led you through a vast and terrible wilderness where there were snakes and fiery scorpions and thirst, where when there was no water he brought water forth from the hard rock for you. ¹⁶ He gave you manna to eat in the wilderness, something with which your fathers were not familiar, to abase you and to test you, so that later on it might go well with you.

^17 [a]You might think to yourself, “It is through my strength and the might of my own hand that I have acquired this wealth.” ¹⁸ But remember the Lord, your God, for it is he who has given you the ability to acquire this wealth so that he might confirm the covenant that he made with your fathers, which is still in force today.

^10 [a]David praised the Lord in front of the whole assembly, and David said:

Love Is the Fulfillment of the Law.^{[a] 8} Owe nothing to anyone except the debt of love you owe one another. The one who loves others has fulfilled the Law.
