¹⁰ No one among you is to sacrifice his son or daughter in the fire,^[a](A) practise divination, tell fortunes, interpret omens, practise sorcery,

¹⁴ Though these nations you are about to drive out listen to fortune-tellers and diviners, the Lord your God has not permitted you to do this.

¹⁴ But the Lord said to me, ‘These prophets are prophesying a lie in my name. I did not send them, nor did I command them or speak to them. They are prophesying to you a false vision, worthless divination, the deceit^(A) of their own minds.^(B)

⁸ For this is what the Lord of Armies, the God of Israel, says: ‘Don’t let your prophets who are among you^(A) and your diviners deceive you,^(B) and don’t listen to the dreams you elicit from them,
