²⁸ The Lord will afflict you with madness, blindness, and mental confusion,^{(A) 29} so that at noon you will grope as a blind person gropes in the dark.^(B) You will not be successful in anything you do. You will only be oppressed and robbed continually, and no one will help you.^(C)

¹⁸ When the Arameans came against him, Elisha prayed to the Lord, ‘Please strike this nation with blindness.’^[a] So he struck them with blindness,^(A) according to Elisha’s word.

¹¹ Now, look, the Lord’s hand is against you.^(A) You are going to be blind, and will not see the sun for a time.’ Immediately a mist and darkness fell on him, and he went around seeking someone to lead him by the hand.
