⁸ If I go up to heaven, you are there;^(A)
if I make my bed in Sheol, you are there.^(B)
9 If I fly on the wings of the dawn
and settle down on the western horizon,^[a]

² If they dig down to Sheol,^(A)
from there my hand will take them;
if they climb up to heaven,^(B)
from there I will bring them down.
³ If they hide
on the top of Carmel,
from there I will track them down^(C)
and seize them;
if they conceal themselves
from my sight on the sea floor,^(D)
from there I will command
the sea serpent to bite them.^(E)
