Israel’s Rebellion and Moses’s Intercession

⁷ ‘Remember^(A) and do not forget how you provoked the Lord your God in the wilderness. You have been rebelling against the Lord from the day you left the land of Egypt until you reached this place.

¹⁸ And for about forty years he put up with them^[a] in the wilderness;^(A)

¹⁷ With whom was God angry for forty years? Wasn’t it with those who sinned, whose bodies fell in the wilderness?^(A)
