²² She gave birth to a son whom he named Gershom,^[a] for he said, ‘I have been a resident foreigner^(A) in a foreign land.’

²⁰ So Moses took his wife and sons, put them on a donkey, and returned to the land of Egypt. And Moses took God’s staff^(A) in his hand.

²⁹ ‘When he heard this, Moses fled and became an exile in the land of Midian, where he became the father of two sons.^(A)
