³¹ I will set your borders from the Red Sea to the Mediterranean Sea,^[a] and from the wilderness to the River Euphrates.^[b] For I will place the inhabitants of the land under your control, and you will drive them out ahead of you.^(A)

³ But understand that today the Lord your God will cross over ahead of you^(A) as a consuming fire;^(B) he will devastate and subdue them before you. You will drive them out and destroy them swiftly,^(C) as the Lord has told you.
