³³ They must eat those things by which atonement was made at the time of their ordination^[a] and consecration. An unauthorised person must not eat^(A) them, for these things are holy.

³³ Anyone who blends something like it or puts some of it on an unauthorised person must be cut off^(A) from his people.’

¹⁰ You are to appoint Aaron and his sons to carry out their priestly responsibilities, but any unauthorised person who comes near the sanctuary is to be put to death.’^(A)

³⁸ Moses, Aaron, and his sons, who performed the duties of^[a] the sanctuary as a service on behalf of the Israelites, camped in front of the tabernacle on the east,^(A) in front of the tent of meeting towards the sunrise. Any unauthorised person who came near it was to be put to death.^(B)

⁴⁰ just as the Lord commanded him through Moses. It was to be a reminder for the Israelites that no unauthorised person outside the lineage of Aaron should approach to offer incense before the Lord^(A) and become like Korah and his followers.

⁴ They are to join you and guard the tent of meeting, doing all the work at the tent, but no unauthorised person may come near you.

⁷ But you and your sons will carry out your priestly responsibilities^(A) for everything concerning the altar and for what is inside the curtain, and you will do that work. I am giving you the work of the priesthood as a gift,^[a] but an unauthorised person who comes near the sanctuary will be put to death.’^(B)
