³ God said, ‘I am God, the God of your father. Do not be afraid to go down to Egypt, for I will make you into a great nation there.^(A)

My father was a wandering Aramean.^(A) He went down to Egypt with a few people and resided there as a foreigner.^(B) There he became a great, powerful, and populous nation.
