Esau’s Wives

³⁴ When Esau was forty years old, he took as his wives Judith daughter of Beeri the Hethite, and Basemath daughter of Elon the Hethite.^(A)

³⁵ They made life bitter^[a] for Isaac and Rebekah.^(A)

⁴⁶ So Rebekah said to Isaac, ‘I’m sick of my life because of these Hethite girls.^(A) If Jacob marries someone from around here,^[a] like these Hethite girls, what good is my life? ’^(B)

³ You must not intermarry with them, and you must not give your daughters to their sons or take their daughters for your sons,^(A)

Separation to God

¹⁴ Do not be yoked together with those who do not believe. For what partnership is there between righteousness and lawlessness?^(A) Or what fellowship does light^(B) have with darkness?^(C)
