⁶ the Lord regretted that he had made man on the earth,^(A) and he was deeply grieved. ⁷ Then the Lord said, ‘I will wipe mankind, whom I created, off the face of the earth, together with the animals, creatures that crawl, and birds of the sky – for I regret that I made them.’

¹⁴ So the Lord relented^(A) concerning the disaster he had said he would bring on his people.

¹⁶ Then the angel extended his hand towards Jerusalem to destroy it,^(A) but the Lord relented concerning the destruction^(B) and said to the angel who was destroying^(C) the people, ‘Enough, withdraw your hand now! ’ The angel of the Lord was then at the threshing-floor of Araunah^[a] the Jebusite.^(D)
