35 The wilderness and the dry land will be glad;
the desert will rejoice and blossom like a wildflower.^[a](A)

¹³ Instead of the thorn bush, a cypress will come up,
and instead of the briar, a myrtle will come up;^(A)
this will stand as a monument for the Lord,^(B)
an everlasting sign that will not be destroyed.

¹³ The glory of Lebanon will come to you^(A) –
its pine, elm, and cypress together^(B) –
to beautify the place of my sanctuary,
and I will glorify my dwelling place.^[a]
