¹⁹ Listen – the cry of my dear people
from a faraway land,
‘Is the Lord no longer in Zion,^(A)
her King not within her? ’
Why have they angered me
with their carved images,
with their worthless foreign idols?^(B)

⁸ They are both stupid and foolish,
instructed by worthless idols
made of wood!

¹⁵ They are worthless, a work to be mocked.
At the time of their punishment
they will be destroyed.^(A)

¹⁹ Lord, my strength and my stronghold,
my refuge in a time of distress,^(A)
the nations will come to you
from the ends of the earth, and they will say,
‘Our ancestors inherited only lies,
worthless idols^(B) of no benefit at all.’
