²³ Why is life given to a man whose path is hidden,^(A)
whom God has hedged in?

⁹ He has walled in my ways with blocks of stone;^(A)
he has made my paths crooked.^(B)

⁶ Therefore, this is what I will do:
I will block her^[a] way^(A) with thorns;^(B)
I will enclose her with a wall,
so that she cannot find her paths.^(C)
