John 12:38-40

³⁸This was to fulfill^(A) the word of Isaiah^(B) the prophet, who said:^[a]

Lord, who has believed our message?
And to whom has the arm^(C) of the Lord been revealed?^[b]^(D)

³⁹This is why they were unable to believe, because Isaiah also said:

⁴⁰He has blinded^(E) their eyes
and hardened their hearts,^(F)
so that they would not see with their eyes
or understand with their hearts,
and turn,^(G)
and I would heal them.^[c]^(H)
