¹⁷ For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn^(A) the world, but to save the world through him.

⁴⁶ I have come as light into the world, so that everyone who believes in me would not remain in darkness.

³⁷ ‘You are a king then? ’ Pilate asked.

‘You say that I’m a king,’ Jesus replied. ‘I was born for this, and I have come into the world^(A) for this: to testify^(B) to the truth.^(C) Everyone who is of the truth listens to my voice.’

⁹ God’s love was revealed among us^[a] in this way: God sent^(A) his one and only Son^(B) into the world so that we might live^(C) through him.
