² This man came to him at night and said, ‘Rabbi,^(A) we know that you are a teacher^(B) who has come from God,^(C) for no one could perform these signs you do unless God were with him.’^(D)

³¹ However, many from the crowd believed in him and said, ‘When the Messiah comes, he won’t perform more signs than this man has done,^(A) will he? ’

³² Throughout history^[a] no one has ever heard of someone opening the eyes of a person born blind.^(A)

³² Jesus replied, ‘I have shown you many good works^(A) from the Father. For which of these works are you stoning me? ’

³⁷ If I am not doing my Father’s works,^(A) don’t believe me.
