Jephthah Rejects Ammonite Claims

¹² Jephthah sent messengers to the king of the Ammonites, asking, ‘What do you have against me that you have come to fight me in my land? ’

¹⁰ The king replied, ‘Sons of Zeruiah, do we agree on anything?^(A) He curses^(B) me this way because the Lord^[a] told him, “Curse David! ”^(C) Therefore, who can say, “Why did you do that? ” ’

²⁴ ‘What do you have to do with us, Jesus of Nazareth?^(A) Have you come to destroy^(B) us? I know who you are – the Holy^(C) One of God! ’^(D)

³⁴ ‘Leave us alone! What do you have to do with us, Jesus of Nazareth? Have you come to destroy us? I know who you are – the Holy One of God! ’^(A)

⁴ ‘What has this concern of yours to do with me,^[a](A) woman? ’^(B) Jesus asked. ‘My hour has not yet come.’

⁷ For unclean spirits, crying out with a loud voice, came out of many who were possessed, and many who were paralysed and lame were healed.^(A)
