¹⁵ Then the Israelites cried out to the Lord, and he raised up Ehud son of Gera, a left-handed^(A) Benjaminite,^[a] as a deliverer for them. The Israelites sent him with the tribute^(B) for King Eglon of Moab.

⁶ So Israel became poverty-stricken because of Midian, and the Israelites cried out to the Lord.^(A)

⁷ When the Israelites cried out to him because of Midian,

¹⁰ so they cried out to the Lord, saying, ‘We have sinned against you.^(A) We have abandoned our God and worshipped the Baals.’
