²⁷ He answered, ‘Love the Lord your God^(A) with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your strength, and with all your mind,’^(B) and ‘your neighbour as yourself.’^[a](C)

⁴² ‘But woe^(A) to you Pharisees! You give a tenth^[a](B) of mint, rue, and every kind of herb, and you bypass^[b] justice^(C) and love for God.^[c](D) These things you should have done without neglecting the others.

²⁰ If anyone says, ‘I love God,’ and yet hates his brother or sister,^(A) he is a liar.^(B) For the person who does not love his brother or sister^(C) whom he has seen cannot love God whom he has not seen.^[a]
