⁹ ‘Today salvation^(A) has come to this house,’ Jesus told him, ‘because he too is a son of Abraham.^(B)

³⁹ ‘Our father is Abraham,’ they replied.

‘If you were Abraham’s children,’ Jesus told them, ‘you would do what Abraham did.^(A)

¹⁶ This is why the promise is by faith, so that it may be according to grace,^(A) to guarantee it to all the descendants^(B) – not only to the one who is of the law^[a] but also to the one who is of Abraham’s faith. He is the father of us all.

⁷ You know, then, that those who have faith, these are Abraham’s sons.^{(A) 8} Now the Scripture saw in advance that God would justify the Gentiles by faith and proclaimed the gospel in advance to Abraham,^(B) saying, All the nations^[a]will be blessed through you.^{[b](C) 9} Consequently, those who have faith are blessed with Abraham,^(D) who had faith.^[c]

²⁹ And if you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham’s seed, heirs^(A) according to the promise.^(B)
