³⁸ He is not the God of the dead but of the living, because all are living to^[a] him.’^(A)

²⁰ My eager expectation and hope^(A) is that I will not be ashamed about anything, but that now as always, with all courage, Christ will be highly honoured in my body, whether by life^(B) or by death.^(C)

¹⁰ who died for us,^(A) so that whether we are awake or asleep,^(B) we may live together with him.^(C)

¹³ Then I heard a voice from heaven saying, ‘Write: Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord from now on.’^(A)
