His Death and Resurrection Predicted

³¹ Then^(A) he began to teach them that it was necessary for the Son of Man^(B) to suffer many things and be rejected^(C) by the elders,^(D) chief priests, and scribes,^(E) be killed, and rise^(F) after three days.^(G)

³¹ For he was teaching^(A) his disciples and telling them, ‘The Son of Man^(B) is going to be betrayed^[a] into the hands of men. They will kill him, and after he is killed, he will rise^(C) three days later.’^(D)

³³ ‘See, we are going up to Jerusalem. The Son of Man^(A) will be handed over to the chief priests and the scribes,^(B) and they will condemn him to death. Then they will hand him over to the Gentiles,^{(C) 34} and they will mock him, spit on him, flog^[a] him, and kill him, and he will rise^(D) after three days.’^(E)
