Matthew 1:18-25
1599 Geneva Bible
18 ¶ Now the birth of [a]Jesus Christ was thus, When as his mother Mary was (A)betrothed to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the holy Ghost.
19 Then Joseph her husband being a just man, and not willing to (B)make her a public example, was minded to put her away secretly.
20 But while he thought these things, behold, the Angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, the son of David, fear not to [b]take Mary thy [c]wife: for that which is [d]conceived in her, is of the holy Ghost.
21 And she shall bring [e]forth a son, and thou shalt (C)call his name JESUS: for he shall (D)[f]save his people from their sins.
22 And all this was done that it might be fulfilled, which is spoken of the Lord by the Prophet, saying,
23 (E)Behold, a [g]virgin shall be with child, and shall bear a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which is by interpretation, God with us.
24 ¶ Then Joseph being raised from sleep, did as the Angel of the Lord had enjoined him, and took his wife.
25 But he knew her not, [h]till she had brought forth her first born son, and he called his name JESUS.
