¹⁰ There he saw a man who had a shrivelled hand, and in order to accuse him they asked him, ‘Is it lawful to heal on the Sabbath? ’^(A)

¹⁴ But the leader of the synagogue, indignant^(A) because Jesus had healed on the Sabbath, responded by telling the crowd, ‘There are six days when work should be done;^(B) therefore come on those days and be healed and not on the Sabbath day.’

³ In response, Jesus asked the law experts^(A) and the Pharisees, ‘Is it lawful to heal on the Sabbath or not? ’^(B)

¹⁰ and so the Jews^(A) said to the man who had been healed, ‘This is the Sabbath.^(B) The law prohibits you from picking up your mat.’

²³ If a man receives circumcision on the Sabbath^(A) so that the law of Moses^(B) won’t be broken, are you angry at me because I made a man entirely well on the Sabbath?

¹⁶ Some of the Pharisees said, ‘This man is not from God,^(A) because he doesn’t keep the Sabbath.’ But others were saying, ‘How can a sinful man^(B) perform such signs? ’ And there was a division^(C) among them.
