²⁴ Meanwhile, the boat was already some distance^[a] from land,^[b] battered by the waves, because the wind was against them. ²⁵ Jesus came towards them walking on the sea^(A) very early in the morning.^{[c] 26} When the disciples saw him walking on the sea, they were terrified. ‘It’s a ghost! ’ they said, and they cried out in fear.
