⁹ As they were coming down the mountain, Jesus commanded them,^(A) ‘Don’t tell anyone about the vision until the Son of Man is raised^[a] from the dead.’

²³ They will kill him, and on the third day he will be raised up.’ And they were deeply distressed.

His Death and Resurrection Predicted

³¹ Then^(A) he began to teach them that it was necessary for the Son of Man^(B) to suffer many things and be rejected^(C) by the elders,^(D) chief priests, and scribes,^(E) be killed, and rise^(F) after three days.^(G)

³¹ For he was teaching^(A) his disciples and telling them, ‘The Son of Man^(B) is going to be betrayed^[a] into the hands of men. They will kill him, and after he is killed, he will rise^(C) three days later.’^(D)

³⁴ and they will mock him, spit on him, flog^[a] him, and kill him, and he will rise^(A) after three days.’^(B)

³³ and after they flog him, they will kill him, and he will rise on the third day.’^(A)

⁴⁶ He also said to them, ‘This is what is written:^[a] The Messiah will suffer and rise from the dead the third day,^(A)
