⁸ When the disciples^(A) saw it, they were indignant. ‘Why this waste? ’ they asked.

⁴ But some were expressing indignation to one another: ‘Why has this perfume been wasted?

¹² While I was with them, I was protecting them by your name that you have given me. I guarded^(A) them and not one of them is lost, except the son of destruction,^[a] so that the Scripture^(B) may be fulfilled.^(C)

²⁰ But Peter told him, ‘May your silver be destroyed with you, because you thought you could obtain the gift of God with money!^(A)

²² And what if God, wanting to display his wrath and to make his power known, endured with much patience^(A) objects of wrath prepared for destruction?^(B)

²⁸ not being frightened in any way by your opponents.^(A) This is a sign of destruction for them,^(B) but of your salvation^(C) – and this is from God.
