³⁰ Then they spat on him, took the staff, and kept hitting him on the head.

³⁴ and they will mock him, spit on him, flog^[a] him, and kill him, and he will rise^(A) after three days.’^(B)

Jesus Mocked and Beaten

⁶³ The men who were holding Jesus started mocking and beating him.^{(A) 64} After blindfolding him, they kept^[a] asking, ‘Prophesy! Who was it that hit you? ’ ⁶⁵ And they were saying many other blasphemous^(B) things to him.

²² When he had said these things, one of the officials standing by slapped Jesus, saying, ‘Is this the way you answer the high priest? ’
