⁷ When he saw many of the Pharisees and Sadducees^(A) coming to his baptism, he said to them, ‘Brood of vipers! Who warned you to flee from the coming wrath?^(B)

⁴ He went away and discussed with the chief priests and temple police^(A) how he could hand him over^(B) to them.

²⁴ As^[a] the captain of the temple police and the chief priests heard these things, they were baffled about them, wondering what would come of this.
