More than that, I count all things to be loss because of the surpassing value of [a](A)knowing (B)Christ Jesus my Lord, [b]for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and count them but rubbish so that I may gain Christ and be found in Him, not having (C)a righteousness of my own which is from the Law, but that which is through faith in Christ, (D)the righteousness which is from God upon faith, 10 that I may (E)know Him and (F)the power of His resurrection and [c](G)the fellowship of His sufferings, being (H)conformed to His death, 11 [d]in order that I may (I)attain to the resurrection from the dead.

Pressing On Toward the Goal

12 Not that I have already (J)obtained it or have already (K)become perfect, but I press on [e]so that I may (L)lay hold of that [f]for which also I (M)was laid hold of by (N)Christ Jesus. 13 Brothers, I do not consider myself as having laid hold of it yet, but one thing I do: (O)forgetting what lies behind and reaching forward to what lies ahead, 14 I (P)press on toward the goal for the prize of the (Q)upward call of God in (R)Christ Jesus. 15 Let us therefore, as many as are [g](S)perfect, think this way; and if in anything you (T)think differently, (U)God will reveal that also to you. 16 However, let us keep [h](V)walking in step with the same standard to which we have attained.

What is more, I consider everything a loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing(A) Christ Jesus my Lord, for whose sake I have lost all things. I consider them garbage, that I may gain Christ(B) and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law,(C) but that which is through faith in[a] Christ—the righteousness(D) that comes from God on the basis of faith.(E) 10 I want to know(F) Christ—yes, to know the power of his resurrection and participation in his sufferings,(G) becoming like him in his death,(H) 11 and so, somehow, attaining to the resurrection(I) from the dead.

12 Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already arrived at my goal,(J) but I press on to take hold(K) of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me.(L) 13 Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind(M) and straining toward what is ahead, 14 I press on(N) toward the goal to win the prize(O) for which God has called(P) me heavenward in Christ Jesus.

Following Paul’s Example

15 All of us, then, who are mature(Q) should take such a view of things.(R) And if on some point you think differently, that too God will make clear to you.(S) 16 Only let us live up to what we have already attained.
