Why should I (A)fear in days of adversity,
When the injustice of those who betray me surrounds me,
Those who (B)trust in their wealth
And boast in the abundance of their riches?
No one can by any means (C)redeem another
Or give God a (D)ransom for him—
For (E)the redemption of [a]his soul is priceless,
And he should cease imagining forever—
That he might (F)live on eternally,
That he might not [b](G)undergo decay.

10 For he sees that even (H)wise people die;
The (I)foolish and the stupid alike perish
And (J)leave their wealth to others.
11 Their [c](K)inner thought is that their houses (L)are forever
And their dwelling places to all generations;
They have (M)named their lands after their own names.
12 But (N)man in his splendor will not endure;
He is like the animals that [d]perish.
