²² The stone that the builders rejected
has become the cornerstone.^(A)

¹⁶ Therefore the Lord God said:
‘Look, I have laid a stone^(A) in Zion,
a tested stone,
a precious cornerstone, a sure foundation;^(B)
the one who believes will be unshakable.^[a](C)

See, I lay a stone in Zion,^(A)
a chosen and honoured^[a] cornerstone,^(B)
and the one who believes in him
will never be put to shame.^[b](C)

The stone that the builders rejected –
this one has become the cornerstone,^[c](D)

A stone to stumble over,
and a rock to trip over.^[d](E)
