¹⁶ Therefore, confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is very powerful in its effect.^{(A) 17} Elijah was a human being as we are, and he prayed earnestly that it would not rain, and for three years and six months it did not rain on the land.^{(B) 18} Then he prayed again, and the sky gave rain and the land produced its fruit.^(C)

Effective Prayer

¹⁴ This is the confidence we have before him: If we ask^(A) anything according to his will, he hears us.^{(B) 15} And if we know that he hears whatever we ask,^(C) we know that we have what we have asked of him.^(D)
