² who testified to the word of God and to the testimony^[a] of Jesus Christ,^(A) whatever he saw.^[b]

The Fifth Seal

⁹ When he opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of those who had been slaughtered because of the word of God and the testimony they had given.^[a](A)

¹⁷ So the dragon was furious with the woman and went off to wage war^(A) against the rest of her offspring^[a](B) – those who keep the commands of God^(C) and hold firmly to the testimony about Jesus.^(D)

¹⁰ Then I fell at his feet to worship him, but he said to me, ‘Don’t do that!^(A) I am a fellow servant with you and your brothers and sisters who hold firmly to the testimony of Jesus.^(B) Worship God, because the testimony of Jesus is the spirit^[a] of prophecy.’

The Saints Reign with Christ

⁴ Then I saw thrones, and people seated on them who were given authority to judge.^(A) I also saw the souls of those^(B) who had been beheaded because of their testimony about Jesus^(C) and because of the word of God, who had not worshipped the beast or his image, and who had not accepted the mark on their foreheads or their hands.^(D) They came to life^(E) and reigned with Christ for a thousand years.^(F)
