¹⁷ The women of the neighbourhood said, ‘A son has been born to Naomi,’ and they named him Obed. He was the father of Jesse, the father of David.

¹³ So Samuel took the horn of oil and anointed him^(A) in the presence of his brothers, and the Spirit of the Lord came powerfully on David from that day forward.^(B) Then Samuel set out and went to Ramah.
