⁴ But he himself went a day’s journey into the wilderness, and came and sat down under a broom tree; and ^(A)he asked for himself to die, and said, “Enough! Now, Lord, take my ^[a]life, for I am no better than my fathers.”

² “Arise, go to ^(A)Nineveh, the great city, and ^(B)cry out against it, because their ^(C)wickedness has come up before Me.”

³ But Jonah got up to flee to ^(A)Tarshish ^(B)from the presence of the Lord. So he went down to ^(C)Joppa, found a ship that was going to Tarshish, paid the fare, and ^[a]boarded it to go with them to Tarshish away from the presence of the Lord.
