²⁹ ‘Have you seen how Ahab has humbled himself before me? I will not bring the disaster during his lifetime,^(A) because he has humbled himself before me. I will bring the disaster on his house during his son’s lifetime.’^(B)

⁶ So the leaders of Israel and the king humbled themselves and said, ‘The Lord is righteous.’^(A)

⁷ When the Lord saw that they had humbled themselves, the Lord’s message came to Shemaiah: ‘They have humbled themselves; I will not destroy them but will grant them a little deliverance.^(B) My wrath will not be poured out on Jerusalem through Shishak.^(C)

²⁶ Then Hezekiah humbled himself for the pride of his heart – he and the inhabitants of Jerusalem – so the Lord’s wrath didn’t come^(A) on them during Hezekiah’s lifetime.^(B)
