²⁹ Now ^(A)God gave Solomon wisdom and very great discernment and breadth of ^[a]mind, ^(B)like the sand that is on the seashore. ³⁰ Solomon’s wisdom surpassed the wisdom of all ^(C)the ^[b]people of the east and ^(D)all the wisdom of Egypt. ³¹ For ^(E)he was wiser than all other people, more than ^(F)Ethan the Ezrahite, Heman, ^(G)Calcol, and ^[c]Darda, the sons of Mahol; and his ^[d]fame was known in all the surrounding nations.

¹² And ^(A)the Lord gave wisdom to Solomon, just as He ^[a]promised him; and there was peace between Hiram and Solomon, and the two of them made a covenant.

^23 (A)So King Solomon became greater than all the kings of the earth in wealth and wisdom.

²⁴ And all the earth was seeking the ^[a]attention of Solomon, ^(A)to hear his wisdom, which God had put in his heart.

¹⁶ I ^[a]said to myself, “Behold, I have magnified and increased ^(A)wisdom more than all who were over Jerusalem before me; and my ^[b]mind has observed ^[c]a wealth of wisdom and knowledge.”
