²⁵ For every man of Israel said, “Did you not see this man who comes up? He comes up to revile Israel. And to him who kills him, the king will the give great riches and will give him his daughter, yea, and will make his father’s House free in Israel.”

²⁶ Then, David spoke to the men who stood with him, and said, “What shall be done for the man who kills this Philistine and takes away the shame from Israel? For who is this uncircumcised Philistine, that he should revile the army of the living God?”

²⁷ And the people answered him in this way, saying, “Thus shall it be done for the man who kills him.”
