²⁰ The people of Beth-shemesh asked, ‘Who is able to stand in the presence of the Lord this holy God?^(A) To whom should the ark go from here? ’

¹⁵ Lord God of Israel, you are righteous, for we survive as a remnant^(A) today. Here we are before you with our guilt, though no one can stand in your presence because of this.^(B)

² But who can endure the day of his coming? And who will be able to stand when he appears?^(A) For he will be like a refiner’s fire^(B) and like launderer’s bleach.^[a](C)
