New International Version

¹⁷Show proper respect to everyone, love the family of believers,^(A) fear God, honor the emperor.^(B)

⁷Pay to everyone what is due them—tribute to whom tribute is due; tax to whom tax is due; respect to whom respect is due; honor to whom honor is due.

⁷Give to everyone what you owe them: If you owe taxes, pay taxes;^(A) if revenue, then revenue; if respect, then respect; if honor, then honor.
