⁹ Then Samuel took a young lamb^(A) and offered it as a whole burnt offering to the Lord. He cried out to the Lord on behalf of Israel, and the Lord answered him.^(B)

¹³ If you go quickly, you can catch up with him before he goes to the high place to eat. The people won’t eat until he comes because he must bless the sacrifice; after that, the guests can eat. Go up immediately—you can find him now.”

¹⁵ So all the people went to Gilgal, and there in the Lord’s presence^(A) they made Saul king. There they sacrificed fellowship offerings^(B) in the Lord’s presence, and Saul and all the men of Israel greatly rejoiced.
